GARI DEEGAN The singer first found the spotlight when he was part of The Voice in his home country of Ireland. Following his move to the Gulf, the crooner’s soulful voice and leading man attitude has allowed him to build a stellar reputation hosting and performing at events across the UAE.

What do you think makes you stand out on social media?

I’ve always been quite care free with my accounts. I don’t depend on them as a career, so it allows me to have fun with it and not take things too seriously. A lot of people try to put up a front on their social media platforms, where as I just prefer to take things a lot less seriously.

Who influences you?

My main influences come from music. People like Stevie Wonder and Justin Timberlake are important idols of mine. I love Michael Jackson, andall the great Motown artists.

What do you hope to do with your level of influence?

Sometimes I forget that I have an element of influence in what I do. I actually get quite a few DMs from young musicians and singers who are just starting out, asking me for advice on how they can break into the industry, which is hugely rewarding and a big motivation to help other people.

What does 2019 hold for you?

This year is about focusing more on creating original music, and working with some talented musicians to create a new EPby the end of the year.
